Can I block users from using their device in Safe Mode?

In Android "Safe Mode", downloaded applications will not run and can not be used, meaning that NetSpark Mobile filter may not perform properly. For that reason, we developed the "Advanced Uninstall Protection" feature, which provides an extra layer of protection against bypassing the filter in "Safe Mode". Please note! The "Advanced Uninstall Protection" feature is available for devices with Android versions 5 and 6.

The "Advanced Uninstall Protection" can be activated through the NetSpark management portal or the NetSpark Mobile app.

Before activating the "Advanced Uninstall Protection", please ensure the following:

1. The "Developer Options" are disabled on the device.

2. The NetSpark Mobile app "Uninstall Protection" is enabled (for more details, click here).

In order to activate the "Advanced Uninstall Protection" through the management portal, please complete the following steps:

1. Go to www.netsparkmobile.com from a computer (not a smart device) and log in to the management portal with your admin username and password.

2. Under the "Protection Settings" column, click on "Additional Settings".

3. Click the "Settings" tab (the gear icon).

4. Under "Additional Settings", check the "Activate Advanced Uninstall Protection" checkbox.

5. Click "Save" at the bottom of the page.

6. The system will now send an activation request to your device and a prompt will appear, asking you to set a password. You must set a password that will be the device's lock screen password. You can use the existing password or set a new one.

Enter the lock screen password in both fields and press "Save".

Please Note! Do not leave this screen without setting a password! If you do so, the lock screen password will automatically change to 1234.

7. The "Advanced Uninstall Protection" is enabled. If the device is booted into "Safe Mode", the lock screen password will not be the password set previously, but a different password that is stored in our system.

In order to change your protection level from within the NetSpark Mobile app, please complete the following steps:

1. Open Netspark Mobile application on your device.

2. Login with your device's username and password.

3. Press the "Settings" button (the gear icon).

4. Check the "Block unauthorized apps" checkbox and press "Apply".

6. The "Advanced Uninstall Protection" is enabled. If the device is booted into "Safe Mode", the lock screen password will not be the password set previously, but a different password that is stored in our system.

Please note!

* When the "Advanced Uninstall Protection" is enabled, the device will always require a lock screen PIN code. This applies even if the lock screen was disabled from within the NetSpark Mobile app.

* The "Advanced Uninstall Protection" cannot be enabled on encrypted devices.
